  NEW UPPER EAST REGIONAL MINISTER CALLS ON BOLGA NABA

The Upper-East Regional Minister, Mr. Boniface Gambila has paid a courtesy call on the Bolga-Naba, Martin Abilba and other traditional leaders in their palaces to announce his formal assumption of duty in the region.

Led by the immediate past Regional Minister, Mr. Mahami Salifu, Mr. Gambila and his delegation included the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Rockson Bukari, the New Regional Chairman of NPP, Mr. Ben Boka, the acting Deputy Minister of Ports and Railways, Dr. G. Agambilla, the newly elected Council of State Member, Mr. Francis Afoko, some DCEs and staff from the Regional Coordinating Council.

In his introductory speech, Mr Mahami said it was proper to formally introduce the regional minister who had succeeded him to the traditional leaders and other opinion leaders of the region. He pledged to put his experience at the disposal of his successor. He assured the new regional minister of his maximum co-operation and support. He ended by cautioning his successor to remain focused and firm because the challenges of his position as the political head in the region could be very formidable.

Naba Abilba thanked President Kufuor for choosing a son of the soil to be the regional minister and expressed total support and promised guidance for the new minister.

Responding, Mr. Gambila thanked his predecessor for accepting to lead the delegation and pledging to lend his support in the administration of the region. He noted that as the immediate past regional minister, Mr. Mahami had a wealth of experience to guide him to administer the region successfully.

Mr. Gambila said he would consolidate the peace and unity that his predecessor had sustained since development could only thrive in a peaceful environment. He asked the traditional rulers and other leaders to co-operate with him to deliver, noting that their contributions were very essential.

The Bolga Naba presented both the outgoing and incoming regional ministers with a smock each.
