A
statement issued in Parliament House, has appealed to the people of Gonno
and Tongo-Beo in the Talensi/Nabdam District to exercise restraint in
the wake of the disagreement between them.
The statement jointly signed by the Members of Parliament for Talensi
and Bolgatanga Constituencies Messrs John Tia and David Apasera respectively,
expressed concern about the situation and said nothing should be done
to disturb the peace and tranquility that exists amongst the peace loving
people of the Bonaboto area.
The two MPs called on Chiefs and opinion leaders from the area to urgently
come together and help find an amicable to the disagreement.
The statement commended the security agencies for the swift manner they
moved in to prevent what otherwise could have been a calamity and urged
them to do all they can to restore peace to the area.
They urged the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Rockson Bukari
and the Acting Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. Mahami Salifu who is
also responsible for the Talensi/Nabdam District Assembly to take swift
measures to resolve the dispute.
In conclusion, the two Members of Parliament said they stood for the peace
and development of their people and pledged their commitment to ensuring
that peace returned to the area.
