The citation read as follows:

“The history of Bolgatanga and its environs and indeed the then Upper Region would be incomplete without due attention to your immeasurable contribution from 1972-1979.

In your position as the regional Administrative officer you worked tirelessly and selflessly to improve the socio-economic lives of the people in the region.

You were a visionary under whose leadership the region built its foundation.

You were instrumental in the planning and construction of the Bolgatanga Ministries that serves all the MDA’s in the region today. The magnificent Catering Rest House was initiated and constructed during your tenure of office as Administrative office of the region.

In your quest to create sustainable employment for the people in the region the Tono Irrigation Project was planned and implemented.

You did not only build the people of the region with brick and mortar but also socially. You personally started the flamboyant Uppers International Chapters 1& 2 Dance Bands from which many of our youth developed their talents.

You are indeed a pacesetter and dedicated son of the region. In recognition of this we the citizens of Bolgatanga, Nangodi, Bongo and Tongo (BONABOTO) and its environs, wish to honour you on this occasion and confer on you honorary membership of the Association.

Mr. Ampofo was presented with a certificate of recognition, an elegant hand-woven smock from the Bonaboto area and a Bonaboto T-shirt to symbolize his membership of the Association. The Presentation was done by the National Chairman of Bonaboto, Dr. Thomas Akabzaa in the presence of Mr. Alleonu, Osman Akolbilla and Henry Atampugbire, (Chairman, Welfare Chairman and Organizing Secretary, respectively of Accra-Tema Branch), Mr. Andrews Akolaa, (National Public Relations Officer), and Mr. Sam Anao, (immediate past National Vice chairman of the Association).
